As part of our commitment to insuring people living on less than a dollar a day have access to comprehensive and affordable health care, our organization recently conducted a comprehensive medical outreach program in Zuba, targeting pregnant women and children. This initiative aimed to provide essential healthcare services, promote health awareness, and support the well-being of these vulnerable groups.

The outreach program
Our team of four dedicated doctors and 8 nurses traveled to Zuba, equipped with the necessary medical supplies and equipment. In partnership with God the healers clinic, they began attending to the patients, which totalled to 697 people excluding children.
Medical Consultations
The doctors conducted thorough medical consultations, listening attentively to the patients’ concerns and providing expert advice. This one-on-one interaction helped identify potential health issues, addressing them promptly.
Health Screening

To ensure the patients received comprehensive care, our team conducted the following health screenings:
– Blood Pressure Checks: Monitoring blood pressure levels to identify potential hypertension or hypotension.
– Typhoid and Malaria Tests: Conducting rapid diagnostic tests to detect these common illnesses.
– Blood Sugar Level Tests: Screening for diabetes and pre-diabetes conditions.
Free medication and treatment
Based on the test results and medical consultations, our team provided medication and treatment to address the identified health issues.

This included:- Antimalarial and Antibiotic Medications: Treating malaria and typhoid fever.
Hypertension and Diabetes Medications: Managing blood pressure and blood sugar levels.
Pain Relief Medications: Alleviating pain and reducing fever.
Additional Support
To ensure the patients received ongoing care, our team provided the following:
- Bona Babe for infant care- Emzor Paracetamol for pain and fever management
- Vitamin C to boost immunity
- Piriton for allergy relief
- HIV test strips for screening
- Hepatitis vaccines to protect against the disease
- Health Education: Educating patients on disease prevention, healthy lifestyles, and proper medication management.
- Follow-up Appointments: Scheduling follow-up appointments to monitor progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
OUTCOMES
Here are the major outcome of the outreach.
– 27 pregnant women were attended to, majority of them don’t attend ante natal care.
-Over 300 tests were conducted.
-Over 697 people were attended to.
